It was a VERY busy Saturday downtown Madison on April 30. There were all kinds of events going on- the farmer’s market, a protest rally full of motorcycles, the annual Crazy Legs run, the annual Mifflin Street Block Party, and a handful of other events crowded the Capitol Square and made parking and traffic simply horrendous. But yesterday’s couple, Steph & Marquis, paid no attention to these things: they were on a mission to get married! And what a lovely wedding they had. Having met as tango dancers, they planned the perfect bash that blended their two backgrounds, families, and personalities into an enjoyable and beautiful event. From Steph’s hand-made purple wedding-tango dress (YES, she made her own gown!) to the Buddhist elements of their ceremony, the wedding was unique in every way.
Congratulations, Steph and Marquis- I can’t wait to follow up these fun wedding photos with your custom tango couple’s session this summer!
I loved all the little tango-themed details they slipped into the details. Fun!
Steph & Marquis opted for a private & intimate first look, followed by portraits at Grace Church and the Capitol.
Note to self: When you instruct tango dancers to lean, they lean...
In honor of the motorcycle parade that made a ton of noise all morning leading up to the wedding, we nabbed the groom’s brother’s motorcycle for a quick portrait. As a bonus, it carried on the red theme and it proudly salutes Wisconsin!
One of Steph’s very good friends, Christine, flew from California to join the wedding fun. I had a great time meeting her, because she’s a pretty spectacular wedding photographer herself. I was glad she got to kick off her shooting shoes, don some amazing black heels and this gorgeous blue dress, and enjoy the wedding.
My favorite images from the reception are the dances. The bride & groom chose THREE beautiful songs to show off their skills as a beautiful & graceful dance couple. Afterwards, the music played on and all their friends joined the fun!
