Engagement sessions galore this month!
Wow, it’s been a shoot-filled few weeks for Red Gecko Studio and last Friday was no exception. I often encourage my couples to think about locations that are meaningful to them when we’re planning their session and locations. Ideas I throw around include where you met, the scene of your first date, the place where he proposed, your favorite local hangout, etc. I was really excited when Ila & Greg informed me that they had chosen one of their favorite places to hang out for their session- and it was also where they had their first date!Today’s blog post features a new format… A grand finale! At the very end of this post, I’ll share my absolute favorite image from our session.
And so, welcome to Genna’s. Genna’s is a quaint and unique little bar on the Capitol Square in Madison, with a ton of character and flair, just like Ila & Greg.
The interior of Genna’s feels like an old friend’s living room. The decor is eclectic and fun with all kinds of homey accents. No wonder these two are so at home here!
This exact table is Ila & Greg’s favorite spot. Sunny, cozy, & memorable!
Genna’s has a really neat upper level that wasn’t quite open to the public during our session, but the owner of Genna’s gladly allowed us to shoot there- he knows that Genna’s is a big part of Ila & Greg’s story!
I love smiley, happy couples that make one another laugh!
I loved the sheer curtains and homey details upstairs, too.
This dart board is so cool… But Ila & Greg weren’t paying attention to it.
Even this wall going up the stairs had its own character. Perfect place for a snuggle, right?
Thank you, Genna’s, for letting us in to shoot!!
After leaving Genna’s, we headed to a super-secret location with a simple and interesting background.
Don’t you love that chandelier?! It reminds me of fireworks…
I wish more sessions had red carpets.
For a more casual portion of the session, we drove on over to yet another super secret location… I love this spot! And I’m a big fan of these rockstar-style shots with the sunglasses.
Ya know, just doing the usual…hangin’ out on abandoned palates…
Old, painted wood…aging brick…wild vegetation… Ah, I love it.
Aaaaw, say cheeeeeeese!
And here it is… The “grand finale.” This shot is my absolute favorite from the day! This little corner of Genna’s is a stage and you can often find Ila & Greg hanging out up here. I love Ila’s dress and boots and Greg’s sharp outfit here. What a couple!!
To Ila & Greg, I really enjoyed our session and the opportunity to get to know you both a bit better. I am really looking forward to your wedding in July! I just know it will be fun & full of character, just like this session!
